running remote tomcat instance

Hi,
I am wondering if it is possible to run tomcat on a remote host and
access it from the apache web server? I mean, if the apache web server
is running on a machine "X" and tomcat running on a machine "Y", is the
communication between them possible?
Also, is it possible to communicate between two different tomcat
instances running in two different machines?
Any pointers will be highly appreciated.

Hi,

I'm using iis/tomcat with the isapi_redirect.dll

does anybody know whether it's possible to have an iis
log with things like:

12:47:01 127.0.0.1 GET /agenda/login.jsp - 200

instead of

12:47:01 127.0.0.1 GET /jakarta/isapi_redirect.dll -
200
