INSTALLING OFBIZ V16.11.04

To whom it may concern

I have been struggling to install this version of Ofbiz. the Online
steps given by Apache do not help.
I am running Linux Ubuntu OS v 16.04.5, Kernel version 4.4.0-21-generic

My steps are as follows:

1) A: In command prompt i typed java -version
then the following shows:
openjdk version "1.8.0_03-Ubuntu"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_03-Ubuntu-8u77-b03-3ubuntu3-b03)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.03-b03, mixed mode)

1) B: In command prompt i typed sudo apt-get install default-jdk

2) sudo apt-get install apache2

3) Downloaded Ofbiz from http://apache.saix.net/ofbiz/apache-ofbiz-16.11.04.zip

4) I extracted in Downloads folder, right click to Open in Terminal
and typed sudo ./gradlew ofbiz
I got a good start:
Downloading https://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-2.13-bin.zip
..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Unzipping /root/.gradle/wrapper/dists/gradle-2.13-bin/4xsgxlfjcxvrea7akf941nvc7/gradle-2.13-bin.zip
to /root/.gradle/wrapper/dists/gradle-2.13-bin/4xsgxlfjcxvrea7akf941nvc7
ETC, ETC, ETC...

How ever the setup stays stuck at 91% >>>
"> Building 91% > :ofbiz"

Can any one assist me on how to ensure that i get a 100% build, or if
there are alternative steps i need to take to ensure a 100% build?

await your reply

The download link is generated by apache.org. You get redirected to a
nearby mirror if you use the download link.

+1 for reading README.md before getting started :-)

Hi Jacques

CHECKING INTEGRITY OF DOWNLOADED FILE
I went to the link https://ofbiz.apache.org/download.html and was
referred to I was referred to
https://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.lua/ofbiz/apache-ofbiz-16.11.04.zip.
I downloaded and also downloaded the sha512 file.
I entered the command "sha512sum apache-ofbiz-16.11.04.zip
apache-ofbiz-16.11.04.zip.sha512" and got the following:
df159a4c52c360c6a1100e2fae57f190cc9acf801951e823518f29b542b3fd61cb2c09dbb4b72d5d0123876263f35a5685197065265c6f783354a9dfea65f621
 apache-ofbiz-16.11.04.zip

 apache-ofbiz-16.11.04.zip.sha512
The two don't seem to match. The sha512sum apache-ofbiz-16.11.04.zip
file is 31.3 Mb. What is the correct size?
What can i do if the keys don't match?

Thanks for your help up till now.

No, you don't need "Apache" (HTTPD) to run OFBiz. Though having a frontend proxy (could be also Nginx, etc.) is common in production. I'd not explain
the reasons here.

That's nothing related to OFBiz it's about your platform (OS) and your permissions there.

The official donwload links are at https://ofbiz.apache.org/download.html. They redirect you to mirror sites which help the ASF (Apache Software
Foundation) <https://www.apache.org/> from where you can download the cloned file (remember to check its integrity, you never know...)

The README.md is at the root of your downloaded archive once unarchived.
Also here for the R16 version http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/ofbiz/branches/release16.11/README.md?revision=1826378&view=co but that's for the latest
available revision (ie 16.11.04)

I should also mention some steps are wrong or weird:

If you want to run ofbiz locally then you don't need to install apache2. If
you are planning to deploy it on production then you need to setup apache2
or any other webserver.

This is due to permission issue, I think you need to assign executable
permission to gradlew.

When you run ./gradlew loadDefault ofbiz load the data into database,
First it download the dependencies, build the application and then load
data .

I should also mention some steps are wrong or weird:
- why install the apache httpd server "apache2"?
My reply: I understand that Ofbiz requires Apache to run
- why "sudo" gradlew?
My reply: In page http://ofbiz.apache.org/business-users.html i tried ./gradlew loadDefault ofbiz but it did not work, used sudo ./gradlew ofbiz instead and it began installing.
- what is this download link? Where did you get it from?
My reply: i was referred to http://apache.saix.net/ofbiz/apache-ofbiz-16.11.04.zip in the ofbiz.apache.org website to download v 16.11.04
- where is the data preparation step?
My Reply: what data preparation step?? I was only informed about installing JDK then in the page http://ofbiz.apache.org/business-users.html i was given few steps to build it after downloading and extracting.
Sorry for asking but where exactly do i get the readme.md file? i have been looking for a link to it. Do i go to user documentation?

await your reply

Hello,

It seems you miss some data in your database.

Be sure to load demo data with : ./gradlew loadDefault

I managed to verify the downloaded file using SHA512, it is ok. Followed remaining steps in README.md and got to 91% after entering command sudo ./gradlew ofbiz.
When i enter "https://localhost:8443/ordermgr" i get the following:
I went to ERROR rendering error page [/error/error.jsp], but here is the error text: org.apache.ofbiz.widget.renderer.ScreenRenderException: Error rendering screen [component://common/widget/CommonScreens.xml#login]: .......... ETC ETC

I looked on Google "ofbiz screen render issue template location empty" > refer to link "https://stackoverflow.com/questions/21546509/getting-screenrenderexception-while-running-ofbiz" How ever the proposed solution never worked for us. How do i solve this?

To answer your question: you can ignore the 91% mark. OFBiz has been
started and you should be able to access the applications.

Best regards,

Michael
