[Lucene.Net] [jira] [Commented] (LUCENENET-458) NOTICE file contains too much

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENENET-458?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13177420#comment-13177420 ]

Prescott Nasser commented on LUCENENET-458:
-------------------------------------------

I followed this thread when it was going on - it got extremely pedantic. From my understanding our notice should contain only the lines:

Apache Lucene.Net
Copyright 2006-2012 The Apache Software Foundation

This product includes software developed by
The Apache Software Foundation (http://www.apache.org/).

Then the rest we can move to an ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS.txt file - is that also your understanding Stefan? (The best practice's link is very deceptive in that is says there are 3 things that should be in the notice - which links that go off in other directions)

> I'm sorry I lead you into this but it seems the NOTICE files are to be kept to the bare minimum, see
> http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/incubator-general/201111.mbox/%3CCALhtWkf17VkDABF4aAmXKTS5nXaQXNYBY7jDVBvh1bq%2BKzM5kg%40mail.gmail.com%3E
> http://incubator.apache.org/guides/releasemanagement.html#best-practice-notice
> I suggest we move all the acknowledgements that are not explicitly required to a separate file (ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS or CREDITS or something like that). Of course we need to double check what is required and what is not.
