This is interesting. And sounds very much like what we discussed about
back in 2007 at Austin, when we first thought about using CouchDB as a
backend, or with Stefan experimentation wih HBase.

Now, even if it sounds interesting, there are many many issues with this
approach. One of them is to guarantee the atomicity of modifications,
something thatis not especially enforced by Hadoop, AFAICT. Not to
mention the fact that updating indices on the fly is just extremely
hazardous when you have no transactions...

All in all, with HBase, we have something similar, but it's far from
being finished. At leats, it works, bit it needs to be tested in a
larger scale.
