locking of directories

I noticed that svn does not allow locks on directories (
http://svnbook.red-bean.com/nightly/en/svn.advanced.locking.html#ftn.id327588
).

Are there any plans to add this? Anyone know of a relevant issue
number? I couldn't find one after performing a few quick searches.
