Demo server and advancing the build/test environment

Hi,

what is our current status around demo servers?
There is one at dataved.ru, is that available for public?

demo.openmeetings.de might not come alive again, the cost for me to host
this are too high.

Also I think it might re-initiate a discussion we had before:
Can we organize a demo server from the Apache infrastructure.

Not so much as a public demo server to play around, I see it more as a demo
server for developers. For instance it could run a script that does
download and deploy the latest snapshot from Jenkins. Devs coulds then use
that to do some tests, for instance when there is a release upcoming.

At a later phase we might even discuss some automated tests in the UI using
selenium on that environment. That would advance our quality and minimize
the effort of manual testing.

Any thoughts on this? What was the last status that infra has shared with
us about the availability of such a server?

Thanks,
Sebastian

why are we now cc'ing infra in this thread, do we have anything ready to
communicate on ASF wide lists ?

@Alexei: So what is the message of your email? You are pro or contra such a
server ?

Thanks,
Sebastian

Hello,
I have some servers OpenMeetings active and can provide a space on one
of my servers for demo.openmeetings.de. My servers are located in USA
or Germany or by Server4You.com Unmetered.com and has great stability,
bandwidth of 10 Mbps and unlimited traffic.
I can give a space on one of my servers for testing or demonstration.

A hug,

Folks,

1) the proper server address is demo.dataved.ru;
2) if something does not work, it's Artyom who owns root password at
the first place; he reads the lists;
3) the server generally runs 3.0 openmeetings unless Artyom debugs
something else.

Hi Artyom,

I think it would be still worth the effort to get that box. There would be
some limitations in testing and no public sign up I guess.
However still usefull for testing simple 1:1 meetings. Or for some UI
testing.
And it would be good to have at least one server that is owned by the
community instead of individuals. Individuals come and go as well as might
be limited in time. But that should be no show stopper for others.

Hello Sebastian,

> There is one at dataved.ru, is that available for public?

Server at dataved.ru is still available for everybody except administration
privileges.

You have a good idea, but as I remember Alexei had already written a letter
to infrastructure team and they answered that they couldn't afford giveing
us even 5 mb/s. Unfortunately we can't organize demo with such bad channel.
