Performance: 1 exchange N queues vs. N exchanges N queues

Hi gurus,

We have been doing some performance testing of apache qpid and faced with the following interesting issue:

Under high load qpid performs better with N queues bound to a single exchange rather than N queues, each bound to its own exchange, but we expected the opposite behavior.

So, could you please clarify why so? What could be the issue of such a behavior?

Best Regards,
Sergey
