Does attached patch solve the problem?

I will see what I can do with that, however, at the moment, I don't
have very much extra time.

Well, I think it should not segfault in any case, no matter what is
going on with the ports.

Is it possible to make a stack trace of the segmentation fault? If
you'd like, I can provide stack traces of my segmentation faults
(which occur only when the port is hijacked by the firewall).
