Question / Recording

Hello,

I don’t see where is the menu command to start recording a meeting. I have checked the option in the room configuration, but I see no icon and no command in Action menu that starts the recording. Is it a bug or something I misunderstand about the way recording operates.

Thank you,
Best regards
Jacob

Could you tell me the OS server?

The best would be install Oracle Java 8,
so everything will go on.

Re: Question / Recording

Posted by Jacob Ouanounou <ja...@free.fr>.
(TomCat : I have checked on the web and I think that I understand)

If I understand, I should first install Apache, SQL (MySQL/MariaDB) and PHPMyAdmin
Then create database for OM
Then install Openmeetings

Is there something different in OpenMeetings installation, because Apache is already installed ?

Best regards
Jacob

Re: Question / Recording

Posted by Alvaro <zu...@gmail.com>.
Sure, a web server and PHP can be perfectly
in the same pc that OM.

Apache web server and PHP are completly independients
of OpenMeetings. Simply install also PhpMyAdmin and
go to:

http://localhost/phpmyadmin

...login and there youll find all the databases
have MySQL or MariaDB. Clic on the OpenMeetings
database and navigate through it.

So you need install, if not:

Apache webserver (port 80), PHP and PhpMyAdmin. Tomcat
it has nothing to do with webserver.

Personally i use PhpMyAdmin to build and manage the
database.

In this url have a howto install Apache, PHP and PhpMyAdmin.
The part relative to mysql can forget:

http://www.walmik.com/2013/04/install-apache-mysql-php-and-phpmyadmin-on-ubuntu-13-04-raring-ringtail/

Ubuntu 13.04 or 14.04 is the same for it.

Don't need any configuration between the servers.

Regards!

Alvaro

Re: Question / Recording

Posted by Jacob Ouanounou <ja...@free.fr>.
Hi Alvaro,

Another question please : i it possible to install php server on the same machine as OpenMeetings ?
My idea is to use phpmyadmin with mysql (or MariaDB) to navigate through the database of Openmeetings.

And in that case, how should I configure the servers (Apach Php and Tomcat) to work properly on the same machine ?

Thank you
Jacob

Re: Question / Recording

Posted by Jacob Ouanounou <ja...@free.fr>.
My Openmeetings is installed on a PC with Ubuntu 14.04
I have tried on an old Windows XP machine with Google Chrome, and I get a warning message saying that the file public_9.jnlp can damage my machine, and asking wether I am sure that I want to download it (I don’t send the screen copy, because it’s another machine, but I think my message is clear).

Best regards
Jacob

Re: Question / Recording

Posted by Jacob Ouanounou <ja...@free.fr>.
Hello Alvaro

- I don’t understand what you mean by 3a capture. I click on the TV icon on the top right of window in conference room. Do you mean a usual capture (PrintScreen) ?

I am using Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu, version 34.0, and I don’t have JNLP in Preferences-Applications

Installation : I have followed this tutorial
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/download/attachments/27838216/Installation%20OpenMeetings%203.0.x%20on%20Ubuntu%2014.04.pdf?version=7&modificationDate=1431067282355&api=v2

The installation of ffmpeg was not OK (missing some libraries), and I did it using another tutorial, found on Ubuntu website.

Regards
Jacob

Re: Question / Recording

Posted by Alvaro <zu...@gmail.com>.
Hello Jacob,

The way i told you is for recording and share screen, it depends
you clic on one or other button after you acces to 3a capture.

Can you acces to 3a capture window?

Are you using firefox? If yes, please go to:

Edit-Preferences-Applications (firefox)

...and look for: JNLP archive (text), and to right select "Ask always".
Restart firefox.

Could you please tell me what OpenMeetings installation tutorial has
followed? That can help to understand from where you are goeing.

Regards

Alvaro

Re: Question / Recording

Posted by Jacob Ouanounou <ja...@free.fr>.
Hello Alvaro

I have done what you said … I get Open with Oracle java 8 webstart, and it goes directly downloading (after opening a litte window with OM logo)
Then I get a window wit security message and « Are you sure you want to run this application »
I say Yes
And I get an error message (screen copy below).

It seems that this is not for recording, because it says while downloading, that it is a software for screen sharing.

By the way, when I start audio-video parametrization, when I enter the room, there a button « Start Recording » and a button « Play » . They don’t seem to really record the meeting. WHat are them there for ?

Thank you Alvaro,

Jacob

Re: Question / Recording

Posted by Jacob Ouanounou <ja...@free.fr>.
Hi Alvaro

I have clicked on the TV icon : it seems to a screen sharing option. Is it sharing with the server so that the server would record the meeting ?

I get « Open with -> Oracle java 8 webstart » and it launches a download then a program starts and I get a message like : Unable to launch JNLK or something like that.

Maybe Java 8 is not (properly) installed … to you have installation instructions for it ?

Thank you
Jacob

...if not:

Open with --> browse to:

/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-oracle/jre/bin/javaws

...maybe the path is a little different if you

You are right and is java 8 installed.

In 5 minutes will tell you the path
where to go after clic the tv icon.
Don't need install icedtea plugin.

Oracle Java is not a database as MySQL.

What tutorial you has followed to install OM?

...5 minutes and comeback...

Re: Question / Recording

I am on Ubuntu 14.04

I have typed
java -version

and I have got :
java version « 1.8.0_45 »

far away from 7 or 8

I don’t plan to install Oracle, I would prefer mysql, because I plan to have a light server, not so many users, and it will be simpler to manage with mysql.

Thank you
