going to highlight this appears to break Spark & hadoop-aws 2.8; related to [AWS SDK|https://github.com/aws/aws-sdk-java/issues/1032]. Not ideal; means you need to stay on hadoop 2.7.x or move to Hadoop 2.9+ for the s3a stuff to work
