GSOC 2013

Are there any plans regarding GSOC and Apache Stanbol?
Which project ideas exist?

As I have done some work in that area I may be interested in mentoring
the integration in social media software.

Google Summer of Code 2013
http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/homepage/google/gsoc2013

Any confirmation that the ASF applies as a mentoring organisation?

Cheers,
Andreas

Hi,

and thanks for the interest. I have not looked at it by myself but
this may help to get in contact.

For Stanbol I have no information about planned projects so far. I
will have not much time to work on this but would be great to have
some project again.

Hi there !

I have created STANBOL-1008 for Camel integration.

I have see some "no textual enhancement engines issues", don't forget to
add gsoc2013 and mentoring issues to get them appear in :
https://issues.apache.org/jira/issues/?filter=12323652

(maybe before tomorrow as it's the deadline for organisation application).

Maybe optical or acoustical music recognition can be integrated somehow?

This currently (as far as I know) is the main Open Source optical music
recognition project:

You can count on me. We can open a discussion and start with some
baseline ideas.

Hi,

I am for sure willing to be a GSoC mentor!

Here are some potential Ideas:

* I was already brainstorming with Rafa Haro about possibilities to
create & mark some disambiguation related Issues for GSoC2013. But
because I am no expert in this area I would need input from Rafa or
ogrisel.
* The use JSON-LD (possible in combination with LDpath) to create a
nice JSON representation of the Stanbol Enhancement (see [1] for
details). As a side product this could also implement a full JSON LD
parser/serializer.
* Enhancement Pipelines (as mentioned in [2]) e.g. by continuing on
the Stanbol Camel integration [3].
* Extends Stanbol for Image/Vido processing engines. No Idea yet, but
I would really like to see some non-text engines!

best
Rupert

People are welcome to suggest ideas, as long as a Stanbol committer is
willing to be a GSoC mentor.

> Which project ideas exist?

See http://community.apache.org/gsoc.html (which still has some stale
2012 references), the best way to suggest a project is to create a
jira issue with the gsoc2013 label, see
https://issues.apache.org/jira/issues/?filter=12323652 for current
list.

Would be great.
