Hello and thanks for the patch!  We've been using pull requests on github for a while now [despite the documentation|https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/AVRO/How+To+Contribute] (I'll take a look at the documentation).  Would you like to make a PR with your fix?  It looks correct.
