[jira] [Commented] (CODEC-144) BaseNCodec: encodeToString and encodeAsString methods are identical

Gary D. Gregory commented on CODEC-144:
---------------------------------------

I would say: document in Javadoc that we know about the dup but that the API is up in the air for 2.0 and the introduction of generics. I would not deprecate for now.

> The BaseNCodec: encodeToString and encodeAsString methods are identical.
> Not quite sure how that happened (possibly as part of the refactoring of the subclasses).
> Options are:
> * document and ignore (i.e. keep both)
> * deprecate one method for removal in 2.0
