Asking for release: Eclipse 2019-06 incompatible with Tycho because of Maven 3.6.1 bug

Hi all,

Eclipse m2e did include a newer release of Maven in order to greatly
improve its performances. This release was 3.6.1 (3.6.0 had a bug making
some of its APIs unusable by m2e internals).
However, Maven 3.6.1 also breaks compatibility with Eclipse Tycho. It was
the topic of a Jira, that was fixed.
The only way to get it all working would be to adopt a newer version of
Maven in next release of m2e (in September).

Is there a date already set for 3.6.2 release?
Could it be pretty soon as this issue is basically hurting all Eclipse
plugin developers (which we assume 99% use the Eclipse IDE and Eclipse
Tycho) ?

believe the bug MRESOLVER-93
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MRESOLVER-93> has been in
maven-resolver for a while. Added comment in the PR summary.

This was also my question but anyway the bug looks scarying and it is an
indicator of hanging Maven
So we should ask the authour of the PR:

As Michael mentioned pending issue MNG-6716, I would like to mention
another Jira issues which are in my memory.
These (MRESOLVER-92, MNG-6731) are fixed and waiting for an approval.
Then I would like to cut a new release for the version 1.4.1 of MRESOLVER.
We made one step back from the version 1.4.0 to 1.3.3 reverting one commit
done in 1.4.1 but there are another fixes worth having in 1.4.1 through
1.4.0.
It takes 3 days to finish the release of MRESOLVER. Commiting new version
to the Maven takes as long as the build process takes the time to succeed,
so quite fast.

btw, we of course want to work on reverted commit in 1.4.1 and repair
MRESOLVER-7 after the version 1.4.1.

There is a big work going on.
Once we have a stable master branch I can try to perform the release

stand up as RM.

In the mean time I am running the integration tests of maven core on my
linux box and I have a bunch of failures, I am investigating.

I will look at both.

There are some open, and heavily discussed PRs for perfomance 
improvement on Maven. They will likely land in 3.6.2 as well.

I will be happy to try, but I will be on vacation next week
I have already managed releases for plugins I guess the procedure is
somehow more complex.

If I understand correctly there is a bit of hurry, If any other volunteer
steps in I can do the next time.
