We have brokers with 20k open files and shutdown is extremely slow, progressing usually at around 60 closed file descriptors per second:

CPU is barely used at ~2%.
There is some IO, but it's very far from saturating RAID0 from 12 spinning disks:

This happens across brokers and clusters.
