agreed.

I first thought it might be problem of the libraries on Debian, but that
wasn't the case (in this case). We received some OutOfMemoryExceptions
with 4.1.21. I have upgraded now to Tomcat 4.1.24. Let's see ...

Although I just realize that the menu tabs have changed and need to be
adapted. Also in the case of the OSCOM publication the
authoring/index.html page is caught by too early by a certain pipeline.

Please apologize the inconvenience

A property in a properties file needs to be corrected:

tomcat-specific path in WAR-file
http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=20967

I noticed this problem with Jetty and the current binary Lenya distribution.
It works in spite of this!

Re: demos are broken

Posted by Martin Möbius <m....@gmx.de>.
I am also tried to setup lenya with the result of many errors when
trying the demos.
There is an exception thrown within the tomcat console(see below),
perhaps connected?
Could someone try to decribe wich version (if any at all) is usable?
Because the lenya-0.8-dev-src-20030619045332 version showed erros too (a
log4j.log file could not be opend, looked liked a hard codes log target).
I read the thread, but it is not mentioned in which build the errors are
fixed.

Thanks a lot.

The problem is that a sitemap was checked in (the usecase sitemap in
this case) that was not well formed.

I just fixed it in CVS. Should work now.

Re: demos are broken

I cannot agree more with Andreas,

I'm new to Lenya (I've been using Cocoon for a while).
After installing and trying to go through the demos,
I got 2 errors in less than 2 minutes:

One trying to access:

http://localhost:8080/lenya/computerworld/authoring/

with the following result:

Resource Not Found
Message: Resource Not Found

Description: The requested resource
"/lenya/computerworld/authoring/" could not be found

Sender: org.apache.cocoon.servlet.CocoonServlet

Source: Cocoon Servlet

And the other trying to access:

http://localhost:8080/lenya/default/authoring/doctypes.html?lenya.usecase=create&lenya.step=showscreen&doctype=simple

with the following result:

Message: null

Description: No details available.

Sender: org.apache.cocoon.servlet.CocoonServlet

Source: Cocoon Servlet

Request URI

default/authoring/doctypes.html

cause

The element type "map:match" must be terminated by the
matching end-tag "".

request-uri

/lenya/default/authoring/doctypes.html

Apache Cocoon 2.1m3-dev

Re: demos are broken

Hello Jann,

there is agreement on this issue by most (probably all) participants of the
list. Yes, I made a similar frustrating experience a few days ago and once
before. Unfortunately it was not yet possible to solve all the partial
issues involved.

In the past there was a problem that the demo-system crashed after a few
days due to some peculiarities of the operating system. That particular
problem seems to have been solved by moving to another machine.

One source of the current problem was a bugfix which went wrong. Due to
still limited QA-processes the change went live with the demo.

And then there also was a legal problem two days ago resulting in the
proactive removal of two libraries from cvs due to a licensing issue (one of
the strange licenses from Sun was involved). The board of the Apache
Software Foundation correctly had demanded to do that ASAP.

As you can see quite a few problems occured at almost the same time.

At this very moment the only critical demo-related "known" issue (known to
Bugzilla) which is not yet solved is this one:

Demo: "/lenya/oscom/authoring/" could not be found
http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=20830

I think that keeping the demo-system alive and functioning should be a main
task of the community. Otherwise it will be extremely difficult to attract
new users and developers and increase the community.

Cheers,
Andreas
