changing ports in tomcat

Sorry if this is the wrong list for this question.

I need to run tomcat 4.0 on the same machine as an earlier version. I would 
like to change the ports used by tomcat 4.0. I tried modifying server.xml 
without success.

If someone could tell me how to modify the ports, that would be terrific!
