[jira] [Commented] (BIGTOP-3604) jsvc fails to find OpenJDK11

Luca Toscano commented on BIGTOP-3604:
--------------------------------------

Thanks for the report! As starter, I'd be interested to know what is your experience with openjdk-11 and Bigtop on Debian. In my workplace we use secure mode but we haven't migrated to openjdk-11 yet (we use a forwardport of openjdk-8 on Buster at the moment). I have been following https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-15338 over time and I thought 3.3.0 was the first version compatible with Java 11, but if others are already using it I'd like to know their experience :)

About the problem of jsvc (question more for Bigtop devs) - AFAICS we can upgrade bigtop-jsvc's version from bigtop.bom, but then we'd need to remove the patches currently added to avoid build failures (git blame reports 2016 as commit time for them). Would it be ok to test bigtop with jsvc 1.2.3, or are there any blockers to move forward?

> Project: Bigtop
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: jsvc
> Affects Versions: 3.0.0
> Environment: Debian 10/buster

> Priority: Major
>
> Since Debian 10/buster, the OpenJDK 11 changed libjvm.so location, so jsvc can't find JVM anymore. This causes a problem when starting HDFS datanode in secured mode.
> Detailed info here: [DAEMON-410|https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DAEMON-410].
> It has been fixed in jsvc 1.2.3.
