Discussion framework/common/widgets/commonscreens.xml modify

When the themes were implemented code was added to the common
commonscreens.xml the defeated the use of passing data from a custom app.
I would like to modify this so they follow the model that if there the
variables are not null the themes are not applied.
there may be other options, which is why I am discussing it first.
