Ejji traemark
Hi,
While I like the name, there are a large number of Japanese companies with similar trademarks. Is this a concern? If you search here [1] you can see them. Not being able to read Japanese I have little idea what the trademarks are for.
Of the names on the list Pipir, Diztil, Kinaara and Edgent have no trademark issue. Anemone and Fledge have some hits and may or may not have an issue.

The vote should be on "Diztil" with the "zed" or "zee" if you like, the
original intention was that it was unique.
However, my point was that name searches should include the similar
"distil" for the same reasons a trademark on "Nicky Mouse" would likely
be rejected as being similar to an existing trademark.

I see hits on http://www.wipo.int/branddb/en/ with potential conflicts for:
Anemone - 90+ hits many of which are in Japanese so unable to determine level of conflict
Diztil - None, but some for Distil as listed in your email
PiPir - As listed in your email
Edgent (with an e not an a) - None
Kinaara - None
Fledge - a german media software company
I suggest trimming the list to the names without conflict (Edgent and Kinaara) to avoid ever decreasing circles.

Vote on the following names, after reading through the potential issues
which I will lay out more carefully on the wiki:
Anemone
Distil
Pipir
Edgant
Kinaara
Fledge
My opinion is to remove Ejji from the list unless someone can interpret the
Japanese characters in the global trademark database. The PMC already
removed Tringa from the list. If anyone has a significant uniqueness issue
with these names and wants them removed, please say so. We have already
had multiple rounds of voting, but I think we need to come up with
something the community is comfortable with and the PMC will support.
My idea is to provide all of the relevant information, call a vote where
everyone may pick one choice, and then go to the PMC. Starting with the
number 1 vote, the PMC will decide if they are comfortable with the
uniqueness, then number 2, etc until we have one we are willing to submit
to the suitable naming committee.

Diztil should be checked for similar trademarks based upon "Distil". I
couldn't see anything of concern from a quick check at the USPTO.

I thought I would summarize the potential issues with the names that we
would be taking off the list, in case there are further thoughts:
Ejji - Trademarks in Japan that are written up in Japanese characters, so I
don't know what the issues might be.
Anemone - Rental management software, analysis monitor written in Python,
theming engine for iOS, web spider framework, quite a few projects on
github although almost all of them appear to be very small or inactive.
There are trademarks on Anemone, but none in the computer or software
arena. I think we probably could get through with this name, but there is
some usage and risk.
Fledge - programs to help companies take conscious issues to the world, IT
and services company, Clothing trademark. I don't think this one is likely
to cause an issue, but not as clean as the other four choices.
Given these potential issues, should we include any of these in the vote?

I agree that we should stay away from any names that could have conflicts and suggest restarting the vote with just the 4 that have no issues (Pipir, Diztil, Kinaara & Edgent).

away from any names that could have conflicts, so unless someone reads
Japanese or disagrees, I'm inclined to restart the vote without Ejji. Post
