VR webserver.service apache2
Hi,
I have made the requested changes from the Github pull 7982 on a SystemVM template (that should fix our issue with the web service failing) on ACS 4.15.2, added it to our Secondary storage server, and created a new SystemVM from it. However, this new VM doesn't have the changes.
This is what I have on the SystemVM template:
[A computer screen with white text Description automatically generated]
It is identical as the Git pull:
Problem is that on a new SystemVM I have just recreated, it is still using the old config:
I'm a bit lost. I have used the right command to upload this SystemVM, so I don't understand why the config files are different between the VM and the template. Guess I am missing something?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Wei,
I haven't, I thought about the systemvm.iso but wasn't sure what to do about it and if that could be related. Should I just delete it and it will recreate itself?
Also, I'm not sure about the files on the kvm hosts (I only found /usr/share/cloudstack-common/scripts/vm/systemvm)?
Thanks for your help!

Posted by Frederic Larcher <Fr...@quadris.com.INVALID>.
Hi Wei,
Yes, I have deleted this entry already, so I can see a new template is being created on the primary storage, however, when checking inside a new created router, it doesn't have the changes...
When I use guestfish to check the template on the Secondary storage, I see the changes made on the 2 files (CsAddress.py and CsApp.py). When I check the image copied to the Primary storage, it is still using the old template (or looks like it)....But the old template was replaced by the new one...
Is there another place I should check for?
Thanks

Hi,
The command replaces the template on secondary storage.
However, if the template has been used before, the old template has been copied to primary storage. When deploy a new router on the same primary storage, cloudstack will NOT copy the template from secondary storage to primary storage, therefore the new router still uses the old template.
As a workaround, Please remove the corresponding in template_spool_ref table.

Hi,
The command replaces the template on secondary storage.
However, if the template has been used before, the old template has been
copied to primary storage. When deploy a new router on the same primary
storage, cloudstack will NOT copy the template from secondary storage to
primary storage, therefore the new router still uses the old template.
As a workaround, Please remove the corresponding in template_spool_ref
table.

Hi Wei,
Thanks for your reply.
I haven't, but I can't see which one to update. There is only the router.template.KVM that seems to change the name, but the template has the same name as the previous template. I have added it with this command:
/usr/share/cloudstack-common/scripts/storage/secondary/cloud-install-sys-tmplt -m /mnt/secondary -u 10.10.10.10/files/systemvm-updated.qcow2.bz2 -h kvm -F
That is what I found on the global settings:
router.template.kvm -- Name of the default router template on KVM. -- Advanced -- SystemVM Template (KVM)
I have replaced the old template, but I don't understand how the changes made to this template do not exist in the new SystemVMs and routers created. It looks like it is still using the old one even though everything has been updated (DB, Secondary storage, template) with the new template ID.
