Building AOO under Debian9

Hello,

for the translation Process I build successfully under Centos 7 and
Debian 8. Debian 8 builds with openjdk 7

Now I want to build under Debian 9 which become oldstable mid of this year.

I set up the build environment as I did it for Debian8 only with newer
version like newer gcc and newer openjdk (8).

I tried to build the same revision

There the build stopped at basebmp:
~/aoo/main/basebmp/inc/basebmp.packedpixeliterator.hxx:86:23: warning:
left shift of negative value [Wshift-negative-value] bit_mask=~(~0 <<
bits_per_pixel)

and so on

I uploaded a screenshot at
home.apache.org/~mechtilde/Screenshots/Build-Debian9.png.

If you need more infomation I will prepare that.

Kind regards

No doubt, something in the underlying implementation of __lxstat64 has
changed for those CentOS and Debian platforms that is causing
our hack to not work.

OK, so I've been doing some digging and it looks like the reason for the above is because we need to fool epm (and dpkg et. al.) into thinking we are root in order to correctly build the DEB packages.

The problem is that this is really, really system specific and even OS version specific.

Most Linux have 'fakeroot' which is the canonical (no pun intended) way of doing this. Sooooo I'll be patching trunk (and AOO42X) to look for 'fakeroot' and use that if available. If not, then we takes our chances w/ getuid.

I've confirmed that if I hack ./solenv/bin/modules/installer/epmfile.pm to NOT call epm with the "LD_PRELOAD=..." string, all builds as expected.

Either something is broken in ./setup_native/scripts/source/getuid.c, or the settings of $installer::globals::debian is incorrect, or CentOS7 (and others) don't like LD_PRELOAD (security reasons??) and balk and fail when it's being used how we use it.

was there a change compared to 4.1.6? If so, what was it and why was it
necessary? Is it possible to revert this? Or doing a rename
before/while/after the files get packed?

Thanks

Yes I did so.

I do a <dmake clean> and then there were no unxlngx6.pro/* in
main/instsetoo_native. But it doesn't work. I get the messabe:

Notice the "_" :(

the same revision buids under Debian 8 with epm version 3.7 which is
shipped in the source code.

but this doesn't work with Debian 9 and CentOS 7.

Now I run it with system epm 4.2 on Debian 9. In some hours I will send
the result.

Re: Building AOO under Debian9

I can't see much in that output, and you're not going to like my suggestion.

Clone AOO from a Git repository, find an old version that could build debs,
and then do a regression test with "git bisect" to find the first commit
that broke building debs, so we can see where and how it went wrong and
proceed from there.

We're probably going to need "git bisect" a lot, for the 4.2.0 release...

I get the same problem at the 42x branch.

I did it with a clean build.

As I described in the other thread it breaks at building with epm.

It says I had to rebuild instsetoo_native.

Hello

Now I have checkout AOO42x too

I will also commit the changes in
main/basebmp/inc/basebmp/packedpixeliterator.hxx for AOO42x.

Is it ok?

Please post the output of your "gcc -dumpversion".

Are you able to try some changes out?
If so, on line 86 of main/basebmp/inc/basebmp/packedpixeliterator.hxx,
change the 0 to 0u (which is used elsewhere in that file and works).
Then try building again and report back.

I haven't enough experience to adapt the configuration myself. Can
someone explain me where I can set the flags and how I have to do it.

Kind regards
