I ran into this issue on Ubuntu 16.04 installing version 2.6.0.0-267. I agree that /boot/efi should not be included as a default recommendation. There is also a 
 [Stack Overflow issue |https://stackoverflow.com/questions/43864376/hortonworks-hdp-2-6-namenode-install-issue-via-ambari] that references this problem as well.
