You may have noticed already....

This problem with namespace and default attributes has already been fixed.
(See subject: IllegalArgumentException, Message:String pool id was not
legal" discussed in Oct 17, 2000).  Please download the latest nightly
xerces-c from http://xml.apache.org/dist/xerces-c/nightly/ and try again.
