[jira] [Commented] (IMPALA-3343) Impala-shell compatibility with
python 3
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-3343?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16528100#comment-16528100 ]
Asoka Diggs commented on IMPALA-3343:
-------------------------------------
Additional comment / workaround.
I am using impala-shell by calling it from a larger shell script to run commands for me. I've found that if I add a Python 2 installation that I still had around to the path, that's the Python version that gets picked up, and impala-shell runs just fine. As a bonus, when the shell script ends, that environment change was inside that shell, so it doesn't affect my larger environment.
I've added something like:
export PATH=/usr/local/share/anaconda2/bin:$PATH
To the top of the shell script I'm using that makes a call to impala-shell, and that has me back in business.
I'd still prefer Py3 compatibility of course, but as workarounds go, this one is pretty painless (at least for me).
