[jira] Created: (DERBY-3281) The "directory" component of the JDBC connection string should permit leading slashes on the windows platform

The "directory" component of the JDBC connection string should permit leading slashes on the windows platform
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: DERBY-3281
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DERBY-3281
             Project: Derby
          Issue Type: Wish
          Components: JDBC
    Affects Versions: 10.0.2.1
Environment: Java 1.5, Windows XP, Eclipse 3.3.1
            Reporter: Patrick Haas
            Priority: Trivial

Derby does not allow for leading '/' in URIs. The connection string "jdbc:derby:C:/path/to/db;create=true" works while "jdbc:derby:/C:/path/to/db;create=true" is ignored by the EmbeddedDriver (the only driver tested.)

It would be nice if Derby the behaviour was similar to how java.io.File handles this.
