Hi Team,

At this point we reached a point where scheduled instances are in WAITING
state on some machines and RUNNING successfully on other machines. This is
not related to Falcon code, but seems to be after the instance is
scheduled and accepted by workflow engine.

I propose to disable these tests that depend on instances in external
components reaching a specific state. These code paths are also tested by
regression code.

Please let me know if you agree.

Thank you
Balu Vellanki

Hi All,

Its consistently failing on machine as all the instances are in waiting
state,so it through's a Null pointer Exception and code expects it to be in
running state.

Thanks

If Praveen is able to reproduce it, it might be easier to debug it in that environment. @Praveen, possible to check what the issue is ? Debugging this on Jenkins might be harder.

Re: [VOTE] Release of Apache Falcon 0.10 RC0

Hi Praveen,

Thank you for verifying.

ExtensionManagerIT.testTrustedExtensionJob:120 NullPointer error is
related to another discussion we are having on dev mailing list with
subject "Jenkins build failures for Apache Falcon². The same tests pass
successfully for every run in local environments used by us.

The issue seems to be that The machine running Jenkins builds does not
seem to have enough resources. I propose disabling the flaky tests for
0.10 and fix the issue for next release. The solution agreed upon was to
classify tests and run critical ones for pre-commit and the more elaborate
ones nightly.

Thanks

Hi Everyone,

I did a build after removing my .m2 folder and building is failing on :

ExtensionManagerIT.testTrustedExtensionJob:120 NullPointer

Also Falcon-1858 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FALCON-1858> is a
backward incompatible as we have changed the default settings, we have not
mentioned it in the release notes.

Thanks
Praveen

Thanks Ajay.

Good catch on jts from vivisolutions. We don’t need it for Falcon as it is only needed in solr plugin and we don’t use it.

FALCON-1858 – I think we still support BerkeleyDB but we no longer package it. So, we can call out that Berkeley db jar is no longer packaged and point to the documentation on updating the startup properties as well as installing the jar for customer use. It is ok to call it as a incompatible change if it helps

Hi Ajay,

[1] Venkat signed the key. Will verify the signing process again.
[2] FALCON-1858 : I was thinking in the lines that this should be listed
under behavioral change since users can continue to use Berkeley DB
storage if they wish to. But I now agree with your argument that change in
default settings should be mentioned under incompatible changes.
[3] Will update NOTICE and verify what depends on JTS.

Balu, Venkat,

I haven't finished my checks but it seems I have hit a blocker. I verified
following:

   - Verified the signature

Was able to receive the key and verify the signature but *[1]*

   - Verified md5 and sha512
