Using Schema for Initial DOM Creation

I'm new to this list and I could not find any relevant info on my question.
This may be partly due to the fact that the Archives don't have a search
facility unlike the other open source archives.

Q. Can I use xerces api to create a fully populated DOM based on an
existing Schema? I'd like to read  a schema and on return have a document
ready with all the nodes and elements. This would eliminate the need to
hardcode Create and Append statements in my code which I think was one of
the reasons to use XML in the first place.
