[VOTE] Release Apache TomEE 1.7.2

Hi

I have rolled the latest 1.7.2 binaries, and I think we're ready for a
vote, so here goes.

GIT Tag:
https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf?p=tomee.git;a=commit;h=428ea60453c51cab933e79eea5bb7fe0f021d6a3

Maven Repo:
https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachetomee-1049

Binaries & Source:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/tomee/staging-1049/tomee-1.7.2/

Legal: http://tomee.staging.apache.org/legal-tomee-1.7.2/archives.html

Vote will be open for 72 hours or as needed. If you have any concerns or
queries, please shout.

Many thanks

Jon

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache TomEE 1.7.2

some feedback from deltaspike (Gerhard): on windows the issue Andy reported
is real and blocking:

"Unable to start remote container"
deltaspike\core\impl\C\maven-repository\org\apache\openejb\apache-tomee\1.7.2\apache-tomee-1.7.2-webprofile.zip

So I guess we need to cancel this vote since it is an important regression
on windows.

1. In any IDE, pick any TomEE Arquillian test and run it out of the box.

If no one has issues then carry on with the roll.

Hi Andy

Thanks for the feedback. I am happy to re-roll this if this is a blocking
issue, alternatively, I'm happy to commit to producing a 1.7.3 in shortly
after this release has finished - say, mid June? Let me know your thoughts.
It would probably be late Thursday before I put another vote up if we
decide to re-roll.

Has anyone else found any issues?

Thanks

Here is my +1

Looks good to me.
The issue is not a blocking issue imho, so we can re-roll later.

Just wanted to say it is fine to release without it + it is really trivial
to do the bridge using maven to set the system property on surefire (+ any
good IDE will inherit from the config for free). So the m2 part is clearly
not an issue. Windows one is.

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache TomEE 1.7.2

If you want to relocate the entire .m2 then using 'openejb.m2.home' is a
good option. The custom repo location is defined most commonly by the
standard .m2 <settings><localRepository> tag. It's more simple and out
of the box to read that first if it is available than to force the
setting of a custom property for every single Arquillian test/project.
It is also a step better than just expecting a hard coded
{user.home}.m2/repository. The issue here is to be able to right click
on a test and run it without errors, and without having to set any
undocumented properties. That would also go against several of the
guiding principles of Arquillian.

Side note: our mvn resolver was never intended to replace maven (for it you
have to add provisioning module) and read maven descriptors (in particular
now maven has 5-6 descriptors in homeand at least 3 which can modify the
local repo). Custom repo should be handled by setting openejb.m2.home. If
you want it to be global you can set it in ~/.openejb/system.properties.

Contains fixes for ProvisioningUtil that ensures alternate

path issue on Windows platforms (partial revert, my mistake).

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache TomEE 1.7.2

Posted by Jonathan Gallimore <jg...@tomitribe.com>.
Hi Mark

Please disregard that list, it was incorrect (hopefully my correction email
made it to the list ok). OpenJPA Jest is not included in the binaries. The
only JPA .jar change is from the openjpa-2.4.0-nonfinal to openjpa-2.4.0.

Regards

Jon

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache TomEE 1.7.2

Posted by Mark Struberg <st...@yahoo.de>.
 ADD openjpa-jest-2.4.0.jar [222.90 ko]

This should actually not be needed. OpenJPA Jest is a REST client for JPA. I removed it from the openjpa bundle but somehow managed to forget it in the dependencies. So it is no treated as transitive maven dependency and thus sneaks in to tomee. Please exclude it if it still leaks in. Will be fixed in OpenJPA-2.4.1.

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache TomEE 1.7.2

Posted by Jonathan Gallimore <jg...@tomitribe.com>.
Hi

Just wanted to issue a correction to this, I somehow managed to run this
command incorrectly. Openjpa-2.4.0 is used in place of the nonfinal
version. There are no other library changes:

apache-tomee 1.7.2 webprofile

  change: +0.12 MB
  total : 29.64 MB

apache-tomee 1.7.2 jaxrs

  change: +0.30 MB
  total : 32.93 MB

apache-tomee 1.7.2 plus

  change: +0.31 MB
  total : 41.78 MB

apache-tomee 1.7.2 plume

  change: +0.30 MB
  total : 49.08 MB

openejb-standalone 4.7.2

  change: +0.36 MB
  total : 29.89 MB

My apologies for the mistake, and thanks to Romain for pointing it out.

Jon
