The difficulty is that there is really no such thing as an OSGi "pet
store" app. Having a "pet store" for Java EE made sense since Java EE
targets a specific domain: web apps.
OSGi is more low level and you can do anything on top of it. So, for
example, maybe dm Server from SpringSource/VMWare has a "pet store" web
app example for how they envision web apps on OSGi, but the "pet store"
app from Eclipse on how to create RCP applications (like the Eclipse
IDE) for OSGi would be a completely different animal.
OSGi is more of an extension of Java, rather than an application
framework. So, for a "pet store" app, you need to find the community
doing work with OSGi in the domain in which you are interested.
Of course, a lot of those people might be on this mailing list, so if
you are more specific about your domain of interest, then maybe someone
can point you to an example.

Thank you for the pointer,
I have got myself MEAP edition of "OSGi in Action" which I plan to study
this weekend,
but I was more looking for a real/pseudo application build on felix
platform, so that I could read/study the source code and get a good head
start on
how felix and its subproject solves .. development (maven + eclipse) issue
... how felix fits into ondemand deployment/download of bundle issue
maybe all this information is there I just need to search properly, so was
thinking this list might give me a pointer

These are the introductions we have at Felix:
http://felix.apache.org/site/apache-felix-osgi-tutorial.html
http://felix.apache.org/site/apache-felix-application-demonstration.html
There are other OSGi tutorials too, not necessarily at Felix, but I don't have a comprehensive list of those.
