Failed to revover

Dear all,

Somehow after experimenting with Apple Finder WebDAV connection (I'm
trying to get more info from the user) a (from CVS converted) repository
is broken. With SVN 1.0.5 the 'svnadmin recover' command hanged and
after updating to ~1.0.7 (the current newest build for Suse) the
svnadmin command replies the following:

$: svnadmin recover REPOS
Please wait; recovering the repository may take some time...

Recovery completed.
svn: Berkeley DB error while opening 'changes' table for filesystem
REPOS/db:
Invalid argument

Please help!

Regards,
Marijn Verkerk

I had a similar problem a while ago, and was told to remove the __db
files from the db folder of the repos. I didn't get the exact same
message (svn just hanged), but it was quite a while ago, and the
version was not the same.
I'm not sure it fits your problem though. You should probably wait for
a confirmation ;)

Let me know when I can compile SVN with this patch!

Any progress? If you can't make the repository available (and it doesn't have to
be available to the world, just to one or two subversion full committers), then
would you be able to compile svn from source, with a patch, against the same
version of berkeley db your current packages are using?

I am in the process of finalizing a patch which shows more detail in the error
than just "Invalid argument".

Max.

This isn't the problem. This change of file permission is caused by the

db_recover -vech repos/db/

command.. which I've executed as root.

I will come back to the other suggestions (including recompiling with
the patch) later.

Anyway, thanks!

Good catch! Those permissions will certainly be upsetting BDB.

Max.

I would've try 'chown -R svn:svn' and/or 'chmod -R g+w'.

You're right, they are version 1.0.6-2 , but I remembered the footer in
the browser view.
/
"Powered by Subversion <http://subversion.tigris.org/> version 1.0.7
(dev build)."/

No, not that I know of and besides other repositories on that machine
are still in tact. I've updated SVN after the repository became invalid!
I haven't updated BDB.

I've tried db_recover and put the output of these commands in a text
file, which is attached (output.txt) and I have add the output of a
'ls -Rl ' command in (repository-dir.txt).

Looks like another case of issue 1968. Can you post a tarball of your
repository for us to look at?

Did you upgrade BDB at some point?

Make a copy of the repository, and try 'db_recover -vech repos/db/'.

Also, show us an ls -l of the repository.
