Blame command with merge history makes my apache server crash
Running svn blame command with the merge history (-g) option in a file that
received a lot of merges is crashing my apache server.
When I run the command, the server memory consuption starts to grow from 55%
till 97%, and then apache crashes and must be manually restarted.
Does anybody here know a work around for this problem? Maybe a parameter to
put in httpd.conf. Blame is a great feature, but I don't mind to forbid it.
Blame without the -g works fine, but our users client (TortoiseSVN) uses -g
by default and you can't turn it off.
Some more info:
Apache 2.2.11 in Windows 2008
Subversion 1.5.6
mod_auth_sppi
It is a virtual machine with 1.5Gb of memory and virtual memory set to zero.
Apache error log just display:
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Aborting.
If desirable I can post my httpd.conf file here.

RE: Blame command with merge history makes my apache server crash
Posted by we...@tigris.org.
Hi,
I would also like to figure this out.
For me - blame (using TortoiseSVN) had to be killed (never got an output). (but didn't crash my Apache Server)
Then a few days later (today) I noticed that my Apache log file was over 900 Mb (whole log for 2008 was 56 Mb!). I am fairly sure that this is caused by using Blame. (though I could not reproduce right now - blame returned with an empty TortoiseSVN window quite quickly and the log wasn't huge).
I installed 1.6 recently (both SVN and TortoiseSVN) I had never used the blame feature before that.
Thanks
Mark
