Hadoop environment variable

Hello all,
I have set the Hadoop environment variable HADOOP_CONF_DIR and trying to run a Hadoop job from a java application but the job is not looking the hadoop config in this HADOOP_CONF_DIR folder. If I copy the xml files from this folder on to java application classpath, it works fine. Since Hadoop is installed on the system already, it would be nice if I do not have to replicate the hadoop config files in two places.

Any suggestions?

Praveen

Hi Praveen,

The configuration files in the various conf/ directories of Hadoop
installation needs to be on the CLASSPATH of your Java application for it to
get found and applied....

Hello Rahul

Thanx for ur reply. Keep replying. I have already started. I have studied
the IEEE paper "The Hadoop Distributed file system by Konstantin,Radia".
What else material should I read where I can find more practical knowledge &
also the area where research is required. How do I start for Practical setup
so that I can start for coding. What tools and technologies are required so
that I can start for reading the same. I have a Laptop having configuration
as below:

Intel CPU 2.10GHZ

Windows XP

HDD 250GB

Memory 2 GB

SONY VAIO
