[jira] [Commented] (JAMES-2419) Domain object creation with non printable characters.

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-2419?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16507787#comment-16507787 ]

Matthieu Baechler commented on JAMES-2419:

Good catch.

In my opinion, as *Domain* maps to "domain name in DNS" concept, we should try to comply to RFCs defining it with maybe restriction when it makes sense.

Wikipedia article [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_name] is a good entry point for that.

> Key: JAMES-2419
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-2419
> Project: James Server
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: James Core
> Affects Versions: 3.0-beta4
> Reporter: Edgar Asatryan
> Priority: Major
>
> Currently it is possible to create *_org.apache.james.core.Domain_* object by supplying only space (*0x20*) characters. Allowing to create blank domain is at least odd.
> So I divided my question in several parts:
> * Is it allowed to create *_Domain_* object with
> ** only control characters?
> ** control characters in it?
> ** non ASCII characters?
