Current [merge tool|https://github.com/apache/sqoop/blob/trunk/src/java/org/apache/sqoop/mapreduce/MergeJob.java#L117] do not seem to be supporting Avro format even though that the [documentation|http://sqoop.apache.org/docs/1.4.3/SqoopUserGuide.html#_literal_sqoop_merge_literal] is stating that.
