I am new to maven so i dont know really if i have got the latest version, but i checked your cvs repository:

In AbstractConfigOutputDirectory.java:

    public static final String[] GOAL_NAME = {"hbm2dll", ...

should be

    public static final String[] GOAL_NAME = {"hbm2ddl", ...
  
Therefore you cant' set an OutputDirectory in pom.xml (or at least only if you mistype it too as the Documentation says) but the config value never gets to the Configuration because a different goal hbm2ddl is asked for.
