In Customize Services, override a config property (say DataNode directories).  Proceed with naming the config group.  You can specify an override value.  Then you go back to HDFS default group.  The config group name is not shown next to the overridden property.  This can be very confusing when defining multiple config groups.
These config names magically appear once you swtich to another service tab and then come back.  See attached.
