O is the short name for Organization
CN is the short name for Common Name
OU = Organization Unit
etc...

It comes from X500, and has been adopted in LDAP (as LDAP was created as a
leightweight protocol to communicate with X500 servers)

You can find the signification of all those short names on sites like
http://ldap.akbkhome.com/index.php/attribute.html
