wsdl2java allows jaxb databinding customizations through -b <binding file>. java2ws can generate the same classes as wsdl2java through -client -server etc but does not have an option for customized databinding file. I like to be able to change the name of the Endpoint class or change the javaAdapter for date parse/print, for example. I currently do that with wsdl2java but now the code created by java2ws will not match up. To implement, just pass the -b <binding file> parameter to the underlying jaxb xjc compiler.
