[jira] [Commented] (BEAM-5338) PortableValidatesRunner always rebuilds Python SDK Harness image

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BEAM-5338?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16607071#comment-16607071 ]

Thomas Weise commented on BEAM-5338:
------------------------------------

For reference, the command to run the harness is:

./gradlew -p sdks/python flinkCompatibilityMatrixStreaming

Ideally there would be a way to help Gradle detect that the inputs to the docker build have not changed. But if there is nothing that can be done to optimize, then maybe it is better just to not build the Python harness container as part of the task.

> The portable ValidatesRunner tests use the Python SDK Harness and requires a Docker image to be built. Building the image takes a long time (~20 minutes) and it would be nice if the build system only rebuilt if changes were made to the SDK harness.
