Perhaps Ignite folks can answer some of these. I'm also
very excited about the project and looking forward to
taking it up for a spin.

Thanks,
Roman.

Hi,

Thanks for the interest in the Apache Ignite project. Here are my answers:

1. Ignite is an In-Memory Data Fabric (website will be released soon)
donated to Apache by GridGain. It is composed mainly of In-Memory Compute
Grid, In-Memory Data Grid, and Streaming components. We have also built
Hadoop Accelerator on top of Ignite which can Plug-n-Play into existing
Hadoop installations and accelerate MapReduce and Hive queries by about 10x
or so.

The Hadoop Accelerator is the integration point with BigTop, and maybe
other components will follow once the migration to Apache is complete.

2. We are still working on the official website, but in the mean time you
can learn about GridGain In-Memory Data Fabric here:
http://gridgain.com/developer-central/in-memory-data-fabric/

3. Contributors are very much welcome! We are currently migrating the code
to Apache, and will be able to start accepting contributions very soon. I
will send another message to this list once we are done - there are many
interesting tasks in the pipeline.
