Hi,

The correct license for the StAX API is the Apache Software Foundation
2.0 version.

Please note that officially there is no StAX 1.0.1 API.
My understanding is that this version of StAX contains a fix for the bad
XMLOutputFactory method:

public static XMLInputFactory newInstance(String factoryId, ClassLoader
classLoader) throws FactoryConfigurationError

Which incorrectly returns XMLInputFactory.

We have tried a number of times to officially fix this problem but have
been prevented from doing
So because JavaSE 6 went final with StAX 1.0 bundled in it before this
could be addressed. Changind the method
Signature can cause JDK compatibility problems.

(note: I'll be out of the office for the rest of the week and won't see
follow up mail for a while if there is any).

The license for StAX API (and RI and for other implementation) is a very
complicated matter - i would recommend checking stax builders mailing
list archives for the latest and the only authoritative source i would
say is to ask BEA.they should be able to clarify it ...

thanks,

Alek
