[REPORT] The VP Incubator requests that an April Report

Hi -

I know that the March report was produced quickly. Unfortunately the VP, Incubator thinks it was a bit sparse. Part of the purpose of podlings reports to the Incubator is to prepare a community to meet its reporting requirement to the Board once they become a TLP (or PMC).

Let’s review the report submitted in March with some notes about how the April Report can be better.

NLPCraft
A Java API for NLU applications
NLPCraft has been incubating since 2020-02-13.
Three most important unfinished issues to address before graduating:
	• Community growth.

——> Is anything else “unfinished”. Website. Marketing? Outreach.Multiple Release Managers? I’m guessing here.

Are there any issues that the IPMC or ASF Board need to be aware of?
No.

——> This is appropriate.

How has the community developed since the last report?
Project have several new contributors that we are expecting to formally join the project/ASF in the future.

——> How are these new contributors helping? Do they improve the diversity of the project? By diversity I mean from different companies that are considering using NLPCraft? Are they purely individuals? Are some of them helping with documentation or non-code activities? How many new contributors are there? How many forks?

How has the project developed since the last report?
Project produced 2 releases.

——> Be specific about the releases. Were they done by different release managers? Is activity on JIRA and Github increasing? If there is a roadmap then what is the progress?

How would you assess the podling's maturity?
Please feel free to add your own commentary.
	• Initial setup
	• Working towards first release
	• Community building
	• Nearing graduation
	• Other:

——> “Community building” is correct.

Date of last release:
Jan 31, 2021.

——> What was released that date?

When were the last committers or PPMC members elected?
Aug, 2020.

——> Who were the committers added? Were any PPMC members added? If none since the last report then tell us the most recent for both classes.

Have your mentors been helpful and responsive?
We have some problems with getting attention from mentors. Release voting can go for weeks without attention from mentors that is slowing down the progress on the project.

——> I got the message and rejoined. Is anything open to be VOTEd right now?

Is the PPMC managing the podling's brand / trademarks?
Yes, no issues.

——> Correct.

All The Best,
Dave
