Formatting ribbon/functionality disappears/disables on attempting to edit in a
mail merged label document
Formatting ribbon/functionality disappears/disables on attempting to edit in a
mail merged address label document.
Impact: Unable to format addresses after merging them into a label document.
Note: except, oddly enough, in the first merged address label.
Application: Writer
Version: 4.1.1
See attached screenshots along with recreate steps.
Steps to recreate:
1. Create an OpenOffice Calc document and populate it with address data.
Headers of columns used (Name, Street, City, State, Zip)
2. Open Writer: File > New > Labels
3. Select the Database (your Calc file of address data)
4. Select table
5. And then populate Label Text with the Database fields
6. On the Label Text, I put a comma and a space in between city and state and a
space between state and zip
7. Choose sheet for format and 8460 Ink Jest Address for Type
8. Click New Document to finish
9. In the pre-merge doc that gets created, I did some additional formatting, I
added a logo image before the address and wrapped the text on the image (see
<screen1>), synchronize as needed.
10. Next in the pre-merge doc; select File > Printer > and answer yes to do you
want to print a form letter
11. Change the radio option to output to a file and click OK
12. In the merged document, you should be able to edit the text in the first
label <screen1> when positioning the cursor in the first label. However, you
will not be able to edit the text in any of the other labels <screen2> when
positioning your cursor in any of the other labels. Notice how the formatting
ribbon and functionality goes grey.

Screenshot to show there is no problem
FYI: ribbon is for MS-Word and Writer has a sidebar.
I can select text and font listbox shows correctly.
