[users@httpd] Does Anybody Run .htaccess with ...

Does anybody run apache 2.0 with .htaccess passwd file of more than 45 or so users? 
I am running the mod_auth_dbm and it seems to authenticate correctly with 1-45 users in 
the passwd file. When I add more users to the passwd file beyond that I keep getting 
	 DBM user dlash not found:

Any ideas?
