Windows clinet extremely slow.

Hi

Just installed Subversion 1.0 on a Gentoo server and installed 1.0 on a
Windows XP box.
I am running the svnserve daemon (using svnserver -d).
Attempting to perform a svn checkout to the local windows XP system. It
seemed to work yesterday first time usage. However today its just not
responding at all. I tried Tortoise, "RapidSVN" and command line. It
only work once today after a full reboot of my local system - now its
completely unusable.

Need help!

Thanks,
Gerhard

That word means different things in different contexts. Sometimes it
means "we think this version is buggy". Sometimes it means "this
version is kind of new and we know based on extensive experience that
the previous one is fine, so what's the rush?" Sometimes it means
"this version adds a new feature, which would break our absolute
no-new-features, just-critical-bugfixes compatibility guarantee."

IMX, SVN 1.1.1 is fine. You're doing a new install, had problems with
older versions, and want a 1.1+ feature, so it's a no-brainer to try
the latest release.

Gentoo has an ebuild for 1.1.1, masked ~x86. Assuming a reasonably
recent version of portage, you can build it by adding the line
"dev-util/subversion" to /etc/portage/package.unmask, then doing
an "emerge subversion"

Most Win32 users just install a binary rather than building their own
SVN. There's a download link on the front page of the SVN web site.

This is not nearly enough information to debug the problem.

But 1.0 is quite old and has many bugs that have since been fixed. Since
you just started, I recommend just starting over from scratch with 1.1.1
on both sides. I recommend trying the fsfs backend, which is a bit easier
to setup and maintain than the bsddb backend.
