FlexJS IDE integration
Hello,
I finally found the time to try FlexJS but I'm stuck with IDE issues.
I'm working with Intellij 2017 and flash builder for existing projects
maintenance but I don't want to use it for new projects.
I first tried to setup the helloWord sample provided with the flexjs 0.8.0
sdk in Intellij following this step by step guide

but it didn't work because of a bug that Josh Tynjala corrected

a month ago. So I tried to get the nightly build of the sdk but the flex
installer doesn't offer to install it.
Then I decided to try visual studio code, following NextGen actionScript
ApacheCon, but vscode prompt me that it could not locate a valid Java
executable (I have java 1.6 installed on my machine in order to get flash
builder running).
So I gave up, a bit frustrated :-)
I'm not complaining, I know that the FlexJS team has a lot to do but the,
but it feels a bit complicated (at least for me) to configure a basic
flexJS project at the moment.

Josh,
I would be happy to help with any kind of activities for 0.8.1 release in
the next week. We should get everything what we currently have in develop
branch as part of it - I don't see any breaking changes. Maybe open
discussion thread on Dev to see who else is +1.

Hi Josh, hi Alex,
Thank you for your help, it works fine now.
I was just annoyed after installing the JetBrain debugging support extension
by a message triggered by chrome on a yellow bar saying that "JetBrains IDE
Support is debugging this tab".
For those whor are interested, there is a way to permanently stop chrome
from triggering this message

Josh,
I remove all references to /frameworks/ in the global library except
frameworks/libs.
The compilation seems to be ok but Intellij displays an error message

Josh,
I just finally tried the instruction and spend a bit of time on it to
refresh screenshots. [1] Your changes were ok and I've almost didn't touch
them. My build and screenshot are based on Nightly build. I was not able to
build DataBindingExample using FlexJS 0.8.0 [2].
I decided do not invest time to figure out what has happened, cause with
nightly it just worked. I had to use
in additional compiler arguments "-allow-subclass-overrides=true", without
it DataBindingExample failed with [3].
We need release 0.8.1 soon.

Thanks, Piotr! For now, I updated the instructions with the changes that
worked for me. Hopefully, you can verify that it's the best way to do
things.

I'm using intellij for FlexJS SDK development. I will look into the
instruction once I get back from vacation next week and reach my laptop. :)
Vincent in the meantime you can try VSCode or Moonshine again.

Alex, I was saying to remove some folders from the module's dependencies in
IntelliJ IDEA. Not to delete them from the file system.
In the current wiki for using FlexJS with IntelliJ IDEA, it says to add
/frameworks as a dependency. I'm saying that you should add only
/frameworks/libs instead (but exclude the player/air stuff, same as
before). I think the Vincent may not have started from scratch, so he may
still have some extra things from /frameworks that are outside of
/frameworks/libs (like /frameworks/projects and
/frameworks/js/FlexJS/projects, as a couple of examples).

won't have those folders, but I think you do in IDE-compatible setups.

How many directories in /frameworks are stil; included after you remove
those two? As I mentioned, there should only be one now: frameworks/libs.
If there are any more than that, then you still have things misconfigured.

I have not spent any time on IntelliJ after they didn't want to take
Christofer's changes.
The errors that are currently being output might be related to not having:
<allow-subclass-overrides>true</allow-subclass-overrides>
I think that needs to be set in 0.8.0 and newer. I don't know how to go
about doing that in IntelliJ, but might be worth a try.

It looks like this part is wrong:
1- Click on New Global Library, select <FLEXJS_INSTALL_FOLDER>\frameworks

Yes, I replaced the previous 0.8.0 with the nightly build.
I corrected the -targets compiler option, and the error generated is a bit

You accidentally set -js-output-type=JSFlex instead of -targets=JSFlex.
Also, I assume that even though your SDK path says flexjs.0.8.0, it's
actually the 0.9.0 nightly build?

I noticed the following compiler option in your build:
-js-output-type=FLEXJS_DUAL
It probably shouldn't be used at all with FlexJS 0.8.0 or newer.
Either -targets=JSFlex or -targets=JSFlex,SWF should be used instead.

PMC,
We should consider a 0.8.1 release with some of the recent bug fixes. The
IntelliJ IDEA fix, in particular, seems especially important, considering
this thread. Developers want to to try FlexJS in a familiar IDE, and 0.8.0
makes that harder right now.
It's also like to get the MXML source maps fix released too. We could
cherry pick some other fixes too, if anyone has some that they think are
important.
