[Bug 122292] New: ods file created by NeoOffice 3.1.2 patch 9 - text is hidden

https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=122292

            Bug ID: 122292
        Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: ods file created by NeoOffice 3.1.2 patch 9 - text is
                    hidden
    Classification: Application
           Product: Calc
           Version: AOO 3.4.1
          Hardware: Mac
                OS: Mac OSX, 10.6
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: critical
          Priority: P3
         Component: editing
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: tom.cooper3@gmail.com
                CC: issues@openoffice.apache.org

Created attachment 80673
  --> https://issues.apache.org/ooo/attachment.cgi?id=80673&action=edit
file which has invisible text - but text is visible when opened by neooffice

File originally created on neooffice 3.1.2 patch 9 - simple, single page
spreadsheet for calculating annual expenses -

The file looks perfectly fine in NeoOffice - and when opened in OpenOffice the
page appears to be blank - but if you navigate to cells with data, the data
appears in the entry window.

Can you offer some ideas about how to fix this? (Interestingly the preview in
finder shows the data properly.)

Files added.

We will look at upgrading the OS - it works fine on Mt. Lion on my iMac. The
MacBook Pro is running 10.6 - I'll re-post after putting the latest OS on...

@Tom: can you attach two screenshots, one in NeoOffice, the other in
OpenOffice? Otherwise is hard to guess what is supposed to happen

--- Comment #2 from Tom Cooper <to...@gmail.com> ---
I originally thought that this was an issue with a calc .ods file created by
NeoOffice - but as I look more closely, the problem is unrelated to neooffice.

The problem is much larger than I thought - it's *any* OpenOffice Calc file -
on OS X 10.6.8 - when opening OpenOffice Calc no text is visible in the
spreadsheet at all.

You can enter text in the cells, and that text is stored, but it appears only
when the cursor is on the cell. Not only that - but the text is only visible
in the "input line" - and not in the cell itself.

When you navigate away from that cell, you can't tell there's anything there at
all.
