Directory implementation that uses ZIP

Summary: Directory implementation that uses ZIP
           Product: Lucene
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Enhancement
          Priority: Other
         Component: Store
        AssignedTo: lucene-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: jarno.elovirta@nokia.com

Would is be possible to create an implementation of Directory that uses ZIP to
compress the index into a single file, i.e. ZIPDirectory? This would help in
distributing indices (with software) to be used on single workstations for read-
only purposes.
