Committers will note their cvs diff of the now-locked repository
will blow up for failure to create your lockfile...  to rescue 
your deltas, use;

cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@cvs.apache.org:/home/cvspublic diff -u3 > ../delta

password is anoncvs
